Drug and Behavior Seminar

This course provides a discussion of the history, biology, health, and social issues related to legal and illegal psychoactive drugs. The first half of the course will involve lectures and discussions related to the foundations of psychopharmacology, and will transition to student presentations of current topics in the area of drugs and social and biological psychology.

One of two quizzes, oral presentations, and short papers based on the presentations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

This course assumes familiarity with basic neural physiology, synaptic function, and neurotransmission, as well as with basic human behavior, psychopathology, social or health psychology. PSYC or NS&B majors who feel they meet these criteria are encouraged to contact Prof. McLaughlin regarding enrollment.
