Applied Quantitative Methods in Survey Research
PSYC 307 SP
This hands-on seminar provides advanced and applied experience in survey research. Students will have the opportunity to develop skills in 1) conducting an in-depth literature review, 2) evaluating the content of
scientific
literature, 3) generating testable hypotheses that add substantially to their chosen area of psychological research; 4) locating and gaining access to publicly available data; 5) preparing data for analysis, 6) selecting
and conducting descriptive and inferential analyses that address their chosen hypotheses; 7) presenting research findings; and 8) evaluating implications. Students will also learn computer software packages utilized
throughout
the research process including SAS, Endnote, and Power point.
MAJOR READINGS
Tutorial chapters on relevant topics and journal articles of original research.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
One project report.

It is helpful to have taken a research methods course.
