Community Development and Organizing I
PSYC 301 SP

Required Sequence: PSYC301 & PSYC302

In this course, students will learn about community development and organizing through readings, discussion, and direct experience. Subtopics include research methods, community psychology principles and values, community development and organizing, coalition building, collaboration and intervention. Through the course, students will be heavily involved in a local elementary school.

Weekly Thought Papers; weekly notes from community involvement; community involvement; final paper.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Must apply and be interviewed to take this course. Open to all majors. Not open to first-year students. Qualitative methods course preferred, but not required.
