This course analyzes the theories of masculinity in the twentieth century and the multiple connections between masculinity and modern science. Considered are the claims of the masculine epistemic grounding of science, the "natural" conditions of masculine human kinds, and the ongoing "crises" or transformations in masculinity. Readings consist of primary and secondary source materials, and class meetings incorporate student presentations and interpretations of the materials.
