The aim of this course is to introduce students to both numerical techniques and the computer hardware and software used in modern computational physics. In the first part of the course, we will learn how to construct and use a Beowulf cluster of computers running the Linux operating system. The latter part of the course will introduce some of the most important numerical techniques, which we will implement on the cluster. This course is also a part of the Certificate in Informatics and Modeling program.
