Swimming for Fitness
PHED 122 FA
This course may be repeated for credit.
This program is designed for the lap swimmer who is interested in learning and applying cardiovascular conditioning and training to swimming. Instruction is given in breathing exercises and pacing techniques.
Individual
work-load levels are determined and self-paced programs are centered around those levels. Various training techniques are discussed and utilized in the program. A course prerequisite is the ability to swim four lengths
(any stroke) continuously and comfortably.
MAJOR READINGS
While there are no major readings or examinations, attendance is required in all activity classes.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Swimmers will be expected to complete a mile swim (any combination of strokes) by the end of the program.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
A course prerequisite is the ability to swim four lengths (any stroke) continuously and comfortably. Attendance required. The first class in each quarter will meet in the Freeman Athletic Center lobby.
