Private Music Lessons for Declared Music Majors

This course may be repeated for credit.

This course is open only to declared junior and senior music majors. Each instructor sets his or her criteria for accepting students. Private instrumental and vocal lessons meet for one hour, on a weekly basis, at a regularly scheduled time. Students contract to take 12 lessons. Only returning students who have previously taken Private Lessons may preregister for this course with a Permission of Instructor form. All students new to the Private Lessons Program must audition during the first week of classes and register during the drop-add period. (Audition information will be posted in the Music Studios Lobby and on the Music Department website www.wesleyan.edu/music) several days prior to the audition period.

If the course is not dropped prior to the third lesson, students will be charged the full course fee. The current private lesson fee is $735.00 per semester. A waiver of a portion of the Private Lessons fee is available for Junior and Senior Music Majors. Details regarding the Music Major Waiver can be found on the Music Department website or in Music Studios room 109.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Requirements set by each individual instructor. This course requires 12 one-hour lessons per semester.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

This course is open to Junior and Senior Majors ONLY.

Private Lessons is a Permission of Instructor course. Only returning students may preregister. All new Private Lesson students must audition September 6, 2005 through September 9, 2005 and register during the drop/add period. Private Lessons begin September 12, 2005.

To schedule the lesson time, all students must submit the Lesson Schedule Form, obtained in the Music office, to their teachers by Friday, September 9, 2005.Students mu st pay lesson fees in addition to University tuition. If the course is not dropped prior to the third lesson, students will be charged the full course fee.

Music majors are allowed to take one (1) private lessons course during each semester of the ir junior and senior years for which part of the fee will be paid by the University, under the following guidelines: (1) Students will be responsible for a portion of the lessons fee. (The current private lesson fee is $735.00 per semester.) The amoun t will be determined each semester by the number of majors taking lessons. Students must have been approved as a major during the preceding semester. (2) Students must be studying with a Private Lessons Teacher for full academic credit.
