Baroque and Classical Music

This course is an introduction to some of the most important musical styles, practices and figures of the Baroque and classic periods, with emphasis on the life and work of Monteverdi, J.S. Bach, Handel, Rameau, C.P.E.
Bach, Haydn, and Mozart.

Weiss and Jaruskin: MUSIC IN THE WESTERN WORLD
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Quizzes and three exams.

Required: Background in music. This course is suitable for both majors and non majors.
