Baroque and Classical Music

This course is an introduction to some of the most important musical styles, practices and figures of the Baroque and classic periods, with emphasis on the life and work of Monteverdi, J.S. Bach, Handel, Rameau, C.P.E. Bach, Haydn, and Mozart.

Required: either MUSC101 or an equivalent background in music; reading ability is necessary, some theory is advantageous. This course is suitable for both majors and nonmajors.
