Crosslistings: CHEM 390 |
The course will center on currently used techniques for protein separation, purification and characterization such as ultracentrifugation, gel electrophoresis and chromatography. Particular attention will be given to the thermodynamic and kinetic principles underlying these separation techniques for isolating and characterizing an unknown protein. Protein stability under different conditions will also be discussed. Both theory and examples of current applications will be presented.
