Elementary German
GERM 101 FA
Required Sequence: GERM101 & GERM102
This is the first part of a two-semester course designed to develop the basic language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students may expect to acquire: the ability to speak and understand simple
German;
mastery of the main features of German grammar; the capacity to read non-technical texts; and insight into the culture of the German-speaking countries.

Aufderstrasse, Mueller, Storz: DELFIN and workbook
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Weekly tests, daily assignments, midterm and final examinations.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
The course meets five times a week, with the longer Tuesday-Thursday classes providing extra time for conversation, exploration of cultural topics, and use of video and audio materials. Individual work with on-line
materials is required. Students
should plan to spend between one and half to two hours preparing for each class. Regular attendance and class participation required.
