Poetics
ENGL 313 FA
Readings in the theory of what makes discourse "literary," with particular attention to tropes and figures like metaphor.
MAJOR READINGS
Selected readings from classical and Romantic literary theory, Russian Formalism, New Criticism, Structuralism, and post-Structuralist literary theory.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Two papers and class presentation.
