The English Essay
ENGL 130 SP

This course will focus on the writing of nonfiction and the forms of the English essay. Readings will be drawn from a range of genres, both nonfiction and fiction, including memoirs and profiles, historical and contemporary commentary, short stories and novels.

Kingston: THE WOMAN WARRIOR;
Le: THE GANGSTER WE ARE ALL LOOKING FOR;
Rushdie: HAROUN AND THE SEA OF STORIES

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Writing assignments weekly.

To apply for admission, complete the application form available at 294 High Street/Downey House, Rm. 103, or Butterfield B310. Deadline to apply: Monday, January 23. This course gives preference to students whose primary fluency is in languages other than English or who are fluent in more than one language; it is open to anyone interested in a course with a cross-cultural focus.
