The English Essay
ENGL 130 FA
This course will focus on the writing of nonfiction and the forms of the English essay. Readings will be drawn from a range of genres, both nonfiction and fiction, including memoirs and profiles, historical and
contemporary
commentary, short stories and novels.

Le, THE GANGSTER WE ARE ALL LOOKING FOR
Rushdie, HAROUN AND THE SEA OF STORIES
Short pieces including Orwell, Momaday, Fitzgerald, Walker, Baldwin,
Finnegan, Tuchman, Dybek, Coles,
Rodriguez, Thuy
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Writing assignments weekly.

languages other than English or who are
fluent in more than one language; it is open to anyone interested in a course with a cross-cultural focus.
