Economics of Technology
ECON 318 FA
This course examines technology and technological change using the tools of microeconomics. It studies the historical evolution of technology and compares it with modern developments. It analyzes the interaction of
technology
with industrial market structure and public policy. Particular emphasis is given to communications technology and the Internet.

W. Baumol, THE FREE MARKET INNOVATION MACHINE
Several journal articles and book chapters.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Several student presentations on readings and a major presentation analyzing a technology of interest. Much of the grading will be by groups.
