Public Finance (Lower Level)
ECON 222 FA

This course examines the role of government in the economy. The first part of the course examines government responses to market failure (externalities, public goods, and monopoly) as well as policies aimed at redistribution of income. The second part of the course is concerned with taxation, including tax incidence, distortions, and optimal taxation. The final part of the course is concerned with fiscal federalism (the division of responsibilities between higher and lower levels of government).

Students who complete ECON 222 cannot receive credit towards the econ or MECO major for ECON 322, or vice versa depending on your needs for major credit.
