West African Dance III
DANC 365 SP
This course may be repeated for credit.
In this course, advanced dance students will learn complex dances from a number of different ethnic cultures from Ghana and West Africa. The historical, social, cultural and religious contents of each dance will be
presented.
Focus will be given to mastery of the texture effort, shape and dynamics within the choreography. This is a physically rigorous and challenging course for those who have completed DANC360 (West African Dance II) or have
equivalent
experience. Permission of instructor is required.

Project with creative, performative and written components.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Students will be expected to perform in the West African Drumming and Dance Concert. Students must contact Professor Mensah for permission to get into the course. Please come to the first class ready to dance.
