This seminar will place the question of truth within the context of scientific studies of race and sexuality. Topics will include late 19th century sexology, the American eugenics movement, intersex, transsexualism, and the pathologization of race in the late 20th century. How have racial and sexual categories been used as mechanisms of social control?
