Academic Year 2005/2006
Intermediate Chinese
CHIN 205 FA
This course continues an intense and engaging level of practice in speaking, writing and listening Chinese from CHIN 103 & 104. We will conduct classes according to an interactive approach: between the reproductive and
the performative, between role-playing and creative participation and between oral sessions and written texts. Emphasis will be placed increasingly on expressive speaking and writing.
MAJOR READINGS
Ted Yao, Liu Yuehua, et al., INTEGRATED CHINESE LEVEL 2 (IC2) Textbook and Workbook.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Students are required to use the language lab in Fisk Hall, complete exercises in the workbook, attend individual tutorials with the TA or the instructor, write a weekly Chinese essay and participate in a Chinese-only
oral session at the Chinese House on
a weekly basis. Quizzes and regular tests are given at the start and finish of each lesson. There will be oral and written final tests at the end of the semester.
