Advanced Lab in Molecular Developmental Biology
BIOL 323 FA

Modern developmental biology research combines the knowledge and techniques of two centuries of embryology with the molecular and cell biology techniques of the past two decades. Students will learn molecular biology and microscopy techniques including pcr, microinjection, and fluorescent microscopy. Substantial class time will be spent discussing experimental design and hypothesis testing.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Laboratory notebook, lab reports, two short scientific essays, a lab method practical exam, short response essays on journal articles, poster presentation of research projects

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Students must have taken any 200-level course in the area of molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, or developmental biology. Interested students who do not meet the prerequisites should contact Professor Devoto directly.
