This course will deal with basic aspects of neuronal physiology, including the function of excitable membranes, transfer of information between cells (synaptic physiology, neurochemistry, membrane receptors), integrative actions of nerve cells, and the function of small groups of neurons in generating and controlling simple behaviors. In connection with each of these topics, consideration will be given to modification of neuronal function resulting from recent past experiences or developmental events.
