Dialogue with Photography: From its Beginning to Post Modernism
ARHA 265 SP
This survey course includes topics on photography from the 1830s to the present, with emphasis on the social uses of the medium, 19th-century documentary, pictorialism, the emergence of modernism, the post-Frank
generation, and contemporary trends.

One short research paper, mid-term exam, one term paper, final take-home exam.

The class is limited to 30. The class will meet for slide lectures and discussions with original photographs from the Davison Art Center collection
