Introduction to Korean Literature

This course surveys in English translation, all major genres of Korean literature from ancient times to the present. An effort will be made to relate the unfolding literary patterns to trends in Korean history. Comparisons to Chinese and Japanese literary experience will also be developed. No knowledge of Korea is required.
