Power, Collective Action, and Marginalization
AFAM 288 SP

This course will explore the collective political action of marginalized groups. Particular emphasis will be placed on understanding the formation of collective political identity, group consciousness, indigenous organizations and institutions and the ways in which power relationships influence the choices and behavior of marginal groups. We will examine traditional approaches to power and resistance as well as alternative, expanded frameworks of power, duration, and resistance.
