Text & The Visual Imagination
THEA 185 FA

This course explores the interpretation of text using visual means. Projects will be designed to stimulate the visual imagination; facilitate the development of visual literacy; develop sensitivity to the various visual parameters of performance, including movement and gesture; apply principles and elements of design and composition and the visual adaptation of text.

MAJOR READINGS

Reading will be selected from a wide variety of sources, which might include: Greek tragedies, Shakespearean sonnets, newspapers, contemporary poetry and prose, popular songs, or scientific papers.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly assignments, culminating in a final performance project.
