Approaches to Acting
THEA 155 FA
Students will examine a variety of traditional and avant garde approaches to acting, including techniques from Europe, Asia and America. Topics will include: Julie Taymour staging Shakespeare, Stanislavski and
Meyerhrold
staging Chekhov, Balinese actors using masks to stage Hindu Epics, Bertolt Brecht staging Chinese fables, Dario Fo staging the Bible and Anna Deveare Smith staging the L.A. Riots.
