Gender, Religion, and Society

This course explores the relationship between gender, religion, and society through the lens of the following questions: 1) How does the gender of a diety affect - and how is it affected by - society's views of women and
men? 2) When and how does religion serve as a means of oppressing women, and when and how does it provide ways to fight oppression? and 3) To what extent, if any, do the religious practices of men and women differ?
