Discrete Mathematics
MATH 228 FA

An introduction to discrete mathematical processes. Topics will include the following: mathematical induction, with applications; truth tables; elementary combinatorics; number theory; and graph theory.

MAJOR READINGS

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Two or three hour exams, 1 three-hour final exam; frequent homework.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

PREREQUISITES: Willingness to accept and to use abstraction in mathematics. Students should already have taken MATH221 or MATH223.
