Problems and Methods in Queer Historiography
HIST 349 SP
This course is intended to prepare students for advanced research in the
field of queer history, the history of gender, and the history of sex; and
to support a historical perspective for those doing queer research
in
American
Studies annd other interdisciplinary programs. The course
emphasizes transnational and comparative approaches, especially within the
Western hemisphere and an extended American empire, situating the
production
of identities
in the history of race, politics and ideas.

Course may be counted for the Gender and History Concentration, and as a junior colloquium and comparative Americas credit in American Studies.
Space permitting, sophomores who have sufficient background will be
admitted during drop-add upon
interview with the instructor. Sophomores interested in the course should put in an enrollment request during pre-registration so that interviews may be held in a timely manner, preferably before the end of fall term.
