American Jewish History
HIST 332 FA
This course will begin with a survey text on the history of Jews in the U.S. from the 17th century to recent times and a survey of Jews in France since the Revolution of 1789 for comparison. We will then concentrate on
several aspects of the subject--immigrations, political radicalism, intellectuals, and Zionism.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Four five-page essays
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Admission by interview. Students with knowledge of 20th century European or U.S. history or Judaism. I would hope to have not only Jewish students but others as well.
