Arab World in the 20th Century
HIST 234 SP

This course surveys history, culture and religion of the contemporary Arabic-speaking countries. Emphasis is on current problems: women's rights, the Arab-Israeli conflict, Westernization versus Islam, U.S. involvement in the region. The course will include discussion of two contemporary Arabic novels and two Arab films.
