Ethnonational Conflict and Third Party Intervention
GOVT 387 SP

The course deals with three bodies of literature: nationalism, conflict, and intervention. Recent advances in the theoretical literature on these issues will be the particular focus of the class. The theoretical arguments will be tested and discussed in the context of several recent cases of intervention, such as Bosnia, Kosovo, Somalia, the non-intervention in Rwanda, etc.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

One 5-7 page paper critically examining an assigned article or book, and a 20 page research paper.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Gov 115 is a prerequisite for this course.
