Practice in Speaking and Writing German
GERM 214 SP

This course is designed to build and strengthen skills in oral and written German. Emphasis is on attaining ease and fluency in oral expression through group discussion and achieving accuracy and stylistic felicity in writing.

MAJOR READINGS

Fictional and documentary treatments of current social, cultural, and political issues in the German-speaking countries, including films and recordings. Grammar review text. A literary work.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Numerous short papers; vocabulary exercises; oral reports. Individualized work on grammar as needed.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Regular attendance in class, at German films, and at events sponsored by the German Studies Department or the German House is expected.
