Academic Year 2004/2005

Elementary German
GERM 102 SP

This is the second part of a two-semester course designed to develop the basic language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students may expect to acquire: the ability to speak and understand simple German; mastery of the main features of German grammar; the capacity to read non-technical texts; and insight into the culture of the German-speaking countries. The course meets five times a week, with the longer Tuesday-Thursday classes providing extra time for conversation, exploration of cultural topics, and use of video and audio materials. Individual work in the Language Resource Center is required. Students should plan to spend between one and a half to two hours preparing for each class.
