Sometimes famous, sometimes offbeat examples of drama, opera and film will be grouped in unorthodox sets to bring out surprising connections and relationships.

MAJOR READINGS

PROMETHEUS BOUND (Aeschylus) and HAPPY DAYS (Beckett), THE TEMPEST (Shakespeare) and THE GHOST SONATA (Strindberg), DON GIOVANNI (Mozart) and THE MISANTHROPE (Moliere), LYSISTRATA (Aristophanes) and THE PHYSICISTS (Duerrenmatt), HAROLD AND MAUDE (Higgins) and MASTER HAROLD AND THE BOYS (Fugard), DEATH OF A SALESMAN (Miller), and FENCES (Wilson).

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

One traditional essay, one creative project, one in-class exam.
