Geodynamics deals with the large-scale mechanisms of the Earth. In this course, we will examine the geophysics and geochemistry that affect the evolution of the lithosphere, mantle and core. Topics will include subduction zone processes, mantle plumes, continental drift, mountain building and core dynamics. Lectures will be supplemented with readings and discussion.
