The aim of this course is to provide you with a background to how natural plants and animals survive and coexist and how broadscale ecosystems function. The emphasis will be on a critical scientific approach, based both on theoretical principles and on observations. The course takes neither a pro-environmentalist nor an anti-environmentalist viewpoint: If you have strong views on environmental issues, expect to have some of your assumptions challenged!
