Physical Geology: Our Dynamic Earth
E&ES 101 SP

This course is an introduction to the study of earth and the geologic processes shaping man's natural environment. Topics include earth materials, how volcanoes work, time in geologic perspective, interpreting the landscape, the behavior of groundwater, glaciers and the Ice Ages, architecture of earth's crust, earthquakes and earth's interior, and the plate tectonic synthesis. Approximately every other week, an afternoon laboratory or field trip (required) illustrates lecture material and examines the geology of the Middletown area.

Two hour exams, final exam and four written exercises.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Two afternoon field trips will be scheduled during extended class periods during the end of the semester (between 1:10 and 4:00pm) Lab/Field Trip Fee: $25.
