Human Genetics
BIOL 221 SP

This is an upper level undergraduate course dealing with advanced topics in human genetics. Although the human species will be the focus of the course, other model systems, particularly mouse and Drosophila, will be included. Some attention will be given to human disease. Discussions of current papers in the literature will be a major element of the course. Ethical, moral, economic & political issues will be raised, but will not be the emphasis of the course.

MAJOR READINGS

Suggested text reading will be supplemented with current journal articles from the scientific literature.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

One exam (no final), on paper, class presentations and class participation will be expected of each student.
