Making Anthropological Video and Visual Anthropology
ANTH 363 SP
This is a video laboratory course combining theory and practice in nonfiction and ethnographic video making. The course will concentrate on video production with weekly exercises, readings, study of selected films and a
short final video project. The aim is to introduce students to computer-based digital editing and video making from the formation of an idea through shooting and editing, to postproduction, concluding with a visual
ethnographic
project.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Weekly video exercises, readings, non-fiction film screenings and study, final video-editing project.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
ANTH and FILM majors only. Two film and/or anth courses desirable. Film screenings every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. $45 lab fee.
