Race and Racism
AFAM 339 FA
This course will explore a variety of approaches to the study of race and racism through a combination of theoretical readings and historical, sociological or ethnographic case studies. We will explore the intersections
between racial formations, state actions, class hierarchies, gender and sexuality. While this course primarily focuses on analyses or race and racism in the United States, we will also draw more broadly on analyses of
European
and colonial racial discourses.
