Crosslistings: ENGL 351 |
We will read novels, plays, and critical works written by Afro-Latino authors in the context of the African-American literary traditions. Our primary goal will be to become familiar with the work of the writers. We will also concern ourselves with the ways in which the marketing, anthologizing, and reviewing of Afro-Latino authors enable or disable readings of them as African-American. Among authors writing from the United States, we will read some writings of Latin American writers of African descent whose works have been translated and published in the United States.
