History of Drama and Theater II
THEA 302 SP
This course focuses on the history of theatrical performance from the 17th through the19th centuries, principally in the Americas and Europe (see THEA301 for history of Asian theatre); and will interrogate how key events
in American history correlate with stage performances, including the importance of Shakespeare revivals. Students investigate how theater arts and dramatic texts reinforce or challenge cultural norms.
MAJOR READINGS

Grading based on mid term, final examination and research paper.
