Intermediate Spanish I
SPAN 111 SP

Required Sequence: SPAN111 & SPAN112

Intermediate language course. Emphasis on the continuation of development of receptive and productive language skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking), with a strong cultural component. The sequence SPAN111 and SPAN112 provides a complete review of first-year grammar and focuses on improving active and passive vocabulary, comprehension of both literary and nonliterary Spanish and a development of writing and speaking. Three classroom periods (MWF) with instructor, one with TA in smaller groups. This is a required course sequence course; although a grade will be assigned at the end of the semester, credit will only be granted upon completion of SPAN112.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Frequent written and oral assignments and tests. Attendance to class and work in the language Resource Center required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

This course is intended for students who have completed SPAN 102 or have placed into SPAN 111 through the placement test this fall, or have an AP credit of 3.
