19th-Century Russian Poetry
RUSS 261 FA
This course is a survey of the Golden Age of Russian lyric poetry. It will include close reading of works by Pushkin, Lermontov, Pavlova, Baratynsky, Tiutchev, Fet, and Prutkov; metrics and versification; intertextual
dialogue
among Russian poets and between Russian poetry and the European tradition; imitation and parody.

lyric poetry by Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, Evgeny Baratynsky, Karolina Pavlova, Fyodor Tiutchev, Afanasy Fet, Kozma Prutkov
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Two papers (3 pp.) in Russian. Oral report (in Russian or English). Final paper (5-10 pp.) in English.
