Imitation in motor activity is a prevalent phenomenon that applies to many domains. This course will take a global perspective on imitation including research on animals and imitative behavior in general, imitation in human development, and ultimately imitation in adult language use. Class meetings will focus on discussion of reading materials to develop a general theory of imitation and its specific application to language use.
