Research Methods in Developmental Psychology: Infancy
PSYC 206 FA

In this laboratory-based research methods course, students will be involved in experimental studies on language-related, perceptual, or cognitive abilities in human infants.

MAJOR READINGS

Reference materials include: APA Publications Manual, Students Guide to APA style; student guide on scientific writing in psychology; textbook chapters on infancy research methods; and original scientific research articles on current infant research.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

APA-style research report and a research proposal based on lit. review of scientific journal reports on an approved topic in infant language, cognition or perception.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

This is a time-intensive lab course. Students must devote 6 additional hours per week in lab time. Previous or concurrent course in statistics, and developmental or cognitive psychology. This is a research methods course in Developmental Psychology area.
