Introductory Physics II
PHYS 112 SP
This introductory noncalculus course in fundamental principles of physics will place particular emphasis on electromagnetism, optics and modern physics.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Class exams and a final exam. Problem sets. Quizzes.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
This course is a continuation of PHYS 111, and will follow a similar format. While a background in calculus is not assumed, each student who enrolls in the course is assumed to be familiar with exponents and powers-of-10
("scientific") notation,
geometry, simple trigonometry, logarithms and proportions. Evening problem-solving help sessions, run by undergraduate TA's, are provided each week; additional help sessions may be organized for some afternoons if demand
warrants. Students taking PHYS11
2 may enroll in a section of the associated laboratory PHYS122. Students planning to enter the health professions should be aware that a year of physics WITH LABORATORY is usually required for admission. Consult your
