Improvisation in Cross Cultural Perspective

This course will explore musical improvisation around the world from a variety of theoretical and practical persectives. Readings on theories of improvisational processes, as well as on specific musical traditions in
the
United States, India, Indonesia, Africa, and elsewhere, will combine with practical transcription and analysis projects.
