In this extension of MUSC210, all materials previously explored will be applied to instruments in a workshop setting. Intensive practice and listening are required.

MAJOR READINGS

JAZZ IMPROVISATION, by David Baker, as well as many excerpts from various methods and compositions.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Performance expectations of all materials are on a consistently high level.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Students must complete MUSC386, FUNDAMENTALS OF JAZZ IMPROVISATION, or equivalent experience. No beginners.
